Deburring and Scraping
Another fabrication service provided at NE Plastics is the removal of sharp edges from substrates, by scraping or deburring. When machining our stocked substrates, swarf (chips) can be left at the edge of the material when cut. We therefore recommend this process if a panel is being left exposed or is in a prominent POS situation.
Deburring aluminium composite in-house is a daily process for our fabrication department. Ragged edges (flakes of aluminium) can sometimes be left by the cutting equipment, this is only a real problem when ACP is not being used for hoarding or enclosed as a sign. We understand that presentation is everything, we therefore will deburr ACP as part of a finished CNC job or at a customer’s request for other straight cut panels.
Scraping acrylic is always advisable when the sharp edges of a panel could prove a hazard. To achieve the best finish, POS or display articles in acrylic should be scraped and polished along the edges.
